The Importance of Networking - Why KBF is Here.
Wednesday, February 27th @ 7:52 PM
As I was sitting in my home office this evening, trying to decide what my next blog topic would be, I stumbled across an article written by Patricia Fripp, a sales coach and professional speaking expert. As I was reading the article I realized that she had perfectly encapsulated the value that the Keystone Business Forum brings to its members.
Ms Fripp points out the four "truths", as I like to refer to them, which explains why it is not good enough to simply have the best product or service in the market. The "truths" are as follows:
- People do business with people they know.
- People do business with people who do business with them.
- People do business with people their friends talk about.
- People do business with people they read about.
In today's market, information is so easily accessible. If organizations don't put themselves out there to be seen and heard, their target market will undoubtedly gravitate to those that do.
I have committed to refrain from using this blog as an advertisement for this forum, but I will speak to the benefits of this type of medium as a form of networking. Whether it is on Keystone Business Forum or elsewhere, being profiled by a respected online community or posting blogs and articles about your business, products or services can provide an advantage that addresses these four "truths". So contact an online forum or magazine and let them know what you have or offer that differentiates your organization from others. Do business with those who can magnify your exposure to your target market.
We have all seen what can happen to widgets sales in the "price game". But in today's world, even the most specialized of services can be commoditized. To be successful you have to, in addition to providing a solid product, be one of the "people who people do business with". So let people know you. Don't limit prospecting to those who fit your target market, but include those who can increase your market exposure. Do business with those you want to do business with you. Be read and heard about and make friends through business networking... and start today!
